Dr. Batra, a Mohs fellowship-trained, board-certified dermatologist, brings the best elements of her training at Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford to deliver cutting edge, outstanding medical, surgical, and cosmetic skin care.

Dr. Batra and her associates are well-versed in the latest advances and use state-of-the-art technology, but never forget that friendly, personalized, ethical care for patients is the top priority.

R. Sonia Batra, MD, MSc, MPH

Dr. Batra is delighted to be practicing in her hometown. A native of Los Angeles, she ventured east for undergraduate studies at Harvard University after graduating Valedictorian of Palisades High School. At Harvard, she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Batra graduated early from Harvard in three years and was selected from California as the youngest Rhodes Scholar. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Genetics at the University of Oxford, England.

Dr. Batra earned her medical degree with honors from Harvard Medical School, where she was President of the Student Council. She also earned a Master’s degree from the Harvard School of Public Health. She completed her Internship, Residency, and Chief Residency in dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine. She returned to Boston for fellowship training in Dermatologic, Laser, Cosmetic and Mohs Micrographic Surgery at SkinCare Physicians of Chestnut Hill as well as clinical research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Prior to private practice, Dr. Batra was the Section Head of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, CA. She remains actively involved in clinical research and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the USC Keck School of Medicine. She is also a Contributing Editor for the journal Dermatologic Surgery and a reviewer for the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.

She is grateful to be supported by a medical family – her father, mother, brother, and husband are all physicians! Her husband, Sameer, is a urologist, and they are the proud parents of two children and a Havanese dog.

Jo-Anne Bustamante, MPAP, PA-C

Jo-Anne Bustamante is a board certified physician assistant. She has been specializing as a dermatology physician assistant since 2004. Jo-Anne is a native of Southern California and received her undergraduate degree from Occidental College. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. She continued her graduate education at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California and received a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Practice.

Jo-Anne is highly trained to perform medical as well as cosmetic procedures. She has had the pleasure of working with Dr. Batra since 2006. She treats a wide range of dermatologic issues, such as acne, rosacea, actinic keratoses, seborrheic keratoses, skin cancers, rashes, and warts, to name a few. Her cosmetic experience includes Botox, Dysport, Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) Peels, and various laser treatments. She also assists Dr. Batra with Mohs Micrographic Surgeries, blepharoplasties, liposuctions, and neck lifts.

During her free time, Jo-Anne enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and godchildren. She also enjoys snowboarding, running, and biking.

Appointments & Consultations

To schedule an appointment, please call (310) 829-9099 or book an appointment online.

Cancellations

If you are unable to keep an appointment, we ask that you kindly provide us with at least 48 hours' notice. This courtesy on your part will make it possible to give your appointment time to another patient. If you miss your appointment or cancel/reschedule with less than 24 hours' notice, you will be charged a $35 cancellation fee. We appreciate your understanding.

Emergencies

Our office provides on-call service for emergencies, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During after hours, call (310) 829-9099, and follow the prompt to page Dr. Batra directly.

Payment / Insurance

Payment

Medical insurance plans usually do not cover cosmetic procedures, and payment is due at the time of service. We participate in CareCredit for cosmetic procedures, and applications may be found online at CareCredit.com. For your convenience, we also accept the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept personal checks.

Insurance

We are an in-network provider for the majority of PPO Insurance Plans in California.

Participating Plans:

We do not accept any HMO or MediCal insurance plans.

Our office staff will be happy to assist you in determining your elibility.

Patients are responsible for deductibles, co-payments, and remaining balances.
